fuel ventilation hose

Post by krick3tt »

I continually smell gas in the cab and it is the fuel vent hose. Abrasion where it goes through
the body by the filler hose. Can I purchase this hose at Napa or is there another source for this hose?
What mm (7 mm ?) size do I get?
Would it be wiser to get a section of solid metal line and splice in at that point to avoid problems
in the future?

I had similar gas smell in the truck when I got mine, also when I filled the tank I would sometimes have a small amount of gas leaking down the side of the tank. I corrected my problems by replacing the cork gaskets where the tank filler and the fuel level sending unites attach to the top of the tank. Made my own gaskets out of cork gasket material from Pepboys auto parts (faster to make my own than go mail order). Hint use empty rifle brass to punch holes in the cork material. The fuel level sender gasket is easy to get to by removing its access plate, the gasket for the fuel fill tube requires the gas tank to be drained and removed. The fun part is getting the fuel fill hose back in place when reassembling. Take care not to damage the hose, kind of pricy considering what it is. I seriously drought that the problem you have is the hose. On mine the cork on the fuel fill fitting was dried out so bad it had cracks in it.

Edit: Oop’s wasn’t the fuel filler was the gasket for the fuel pick-up tube.

Thanks for the tip. I know it's the hose. I just need to know what size it is so I can replace it.

Again....thanks. I have that in my book. Could not decipher the size from that language. The English words do not show a size.

I checked with Napa...no metric stuff at all. Anyone know of a supplier in the states besides SAV?
