Form 6 needed to import a Pinzgauer?

Is an ATF Form 6 needed to import a surplus Pinzgauer? All I have ever imported has been armor vehicles which always needed one.

No. The USDA might hold it to look for bugs and dirt, but the ATF has nothing to do with it.

The main negative with importing these days is exchange rates. This is why I won't do it again and why many stopped trying. I recently wanted to find a diesel G-wagen in Austria or Germany but they are cheaper here, oddly enough.

Indeed, the exchange rate has sucked for many years now. Were you interested in military or civie G-Wagon?

I'm looking at civilian models that are already here, not that there is much difference between any of them. I have owned a couple in the past. Now that I have no more 4x4's at all, which is a first for me since I was 19 and got my first SIII Land Rover, I am looking for what is most practical overall, down the middle-road of ability, uniqueness, highway ability and affordability. I have always liked the early G's more than just about any other 4x4, next to a Pinz or 303, which all started in the late 90's after learning how much ass they kick in the Euro Trophy (Transylvania/Croatia) races. I also like the idea of having that famous 617 turbo diesel Mercedes motor and getting 18-20MPG at a comfortable 60mph. An early G with some rust problems and bad tires might be affordable for me.
