Getting closer to my idle problem solution...

Decided to take the front carb off the vehicle to give it a better clean with less chance of losing bits down the engine. I noticed that there was a spike sticking out of one of the mixture screw holes (inside the carb). Took both screws out to find this:

The most worrying thing is the #1 screw (bottom of picture) as part of it is missing...

That would do it. Did you look into the hole? is it in there? If not, hope it broke and someone just tossed the threaded piece back in. You should check for damage to the idle air cavity now vs placing new screws and hoping for the best. I small straight pic should allow you to gently feel inside the area. Compare it to the second

Second carb was just as bad (almost identical, in fact - one snapped, one partly missing). I've ordered 4 more...

Check your manifold gaskets, they will cause alot of issue at idle.

Will do. They're all fairly new but #4 cylinder has to come out anyway so I'll be rechecking them soon
