Canada Day 2012

Post by berger »

Today I got to participate in two small Canada Day Parades, one in Merrickville, ON and the other in Keptville, ON, with the
Pinzgauer....Except for my truck and the 3 Iltis that were there, all the vehicles are privately owned by one individual.

Some pics and video...

A 6" Gun (manned by Cadets and an artillery officer), commonly referred to as a 12"...when it goes off unexpectedly, people in the crowd jump 12 inches!!

At the end of O'Canada....

At the risk of really inciting a riot here, you should be grateful that y'all's government doesn't feel compelled to jump into every conflict, everytime, everywhere and throw as much armament and personnel at the problem as is physically and financially possible.

A scaled back display of military might (as this event seemingly projects) is sort of attractive in my mind....

We certainly are proud to be considered "peacekeepers". Willing to throw in where required with genuine concern for the victims of war overseas and on our own continent. Thanks for recognizing our limitations, they certainly do exist!

David
Both of my Supacat and one trailer were part of CF- DART (Canadian Forces - The Disaster Assistance Response Team)
http://www.cefcom.forces.gc.ca/pa-ap/op ... cc-eng.asp

As it says, the primary mission is for medical care and production of safe drinking water.

As I understand it. DART is a short term "quick" responder for disasters. While the rest of the world sets up long term logistics.
