Exchanger needed?

Post by berger »

Hey Guys.

Since I have the heat exchanger off the truck right now to weld on some new pipe at the muffler flange end, I was wondering how critical the exchanger is to the function of the truck? I know it supplies heat to the cap etc, but what else does it do?

I know it is such a newbie question, and I am not planning on removing it :D , just curious.

Prost!

Thats your heater and defroster my friend! It also aids in the prevention of freezing up carbs in very cold weather.

Nice weather folks have eliminated theirs. You and me, we do not have nice weather.

Ok, so it is mainly for heat and defrost. It is good to know that it can be eliminated without issue. I don't plan on driving the truck in the winter....or until they put salt down, cause it won't last long if I do.
