My Pinz's Birthday

Post by John L »

Well I tackled re-upholstering the bench seats in the back of my 710M this past weekend. After I took one of the seats a part I found one of the original inspection stickers stuck to the inside bottom of the seat. Check it out... this is as close as I can get to an actual birthdate for my truck. Just thought it was neat and wanted to share. January 16, 1975

a birthday for the seat  ... and you can't be sure it was original to the truck.
During the Swiss refits in the '90s. Not all the parts went back to the same truck. My 710M radio truck had a different door fitted, and the dataplates didn't match.... parts are parts

VW used to issue a nice "birth certificate" with chassis number, engine number, original color, and interior on letterhead if you sent in the serial number. Is there anything like that for Pinzgauers?

Now that is a great idea. Maybe one of our computer savvy could whip up a birthday 'card' that was coordinated to the vin.
I think there was some chatter about vins and dates of origin sometime back. Could make it look really official.

But I bet he voided the warranty when he took the seats apart.

in the good old days you could send an email with the vin number and get the manufacture date range, then they started charging for that information. I have not heard of anyone doing it in some time, so don't know if it is still possible.
