Question/Poll for everyone

Post by VinceAtReal4x4s »

I'm just curious about something and wanted to ask everyone that visits this site to give me their quick view on it.

The question is: What would you pay for a BluRay or full HD downloadable file (or DVD if you are way behind!) for a high-end, professionally made, North American based (non-educational) experimental/visual documentary on rare Euro 4x4's that centered around Pinzgauers, Mogs, 303's and maybe some Gwagen/Rovers thrown in, and some of the people surrounding them?

Can I get that in VHS?

Ok, on a serious note, if it was a showreel - i.e. similar to a composite of youtube videos showing the trucks running around in the mud and some people waving at the camera, beers in hand (albeit in HD quality) - not so much.

However, if it was a more in depth look at the vehicles themselves, with a scientific or more informative look at what these were designed to do, a specific technical breakdown of each and how they compare and differ from each other, what it takes to own them, what it takes to redo them (some case histories perhaps), some history on them, etc, I would really like to see that. It would be an awesome thing to promote how amazing these are to people who are not familiar with them, but also something really cool to have as an owner of one of them. Perhaps you could consider it as part of a paid premium member package or something, add in a sticker and some printed manuals, etc.

I think a reasonable price for something like this, depending on the information and quality, would be 15$-30$ US by themselves, or perhaps more if considered as part of a premium membership.

EDIT: Sorry, I just noticed "(non-educational)" in your post, please disregard comments accordingly.

Hey thanks for giving it some thought but yeah, I have no interest personally in something educational or technical. I dont think that would be fun to watch when trying to cover several different trucks for 90 minutes, but that's just my opinion. Think more high-end visuals of remote 4x4 environments/landscapes, interviews that lean to the philosophical side, cinema quality, composed music, professional sound design and non-shaky camera documentary in style.

Anyway, it is just an idea that's been played with off and on for well over a year now. The expense and time commitment is way up there however.

Id find it entertaining, but please, for all that is holy, do not put piano music in the background.

Take note to how much you hear piano in the background of reality TV shows and programming like The Walking Dead these days. Its rampant now. Each time it indicates a direct injection of drama which causes me to go into dry heaves (and change the channel).

Don't use dubstep either.

And I want to see it driving through the surf. Maybe it might become a series on the Discovery Channel?

I want to see a documentery on driving from Pannama to Nome, Alaska using as much blm land and off road/byways as possible. The Driver would meet up with other overlanders on the journy for support, assistance, and fellowship. Also making historic, natural, and scienic pit stops in places like Saleen Valley hot Springs, Moab Arches National Monument, Burning man, Bahia De San Ignacio, Death valley, and The Great Alaskan Bush Co.

there should be one Unimog one Pinzgauer one 303 and maybe a Halflinger ! all traveling together. Each truck has its a unique personality on the trail ,they are like best friends .With Advantages and disadvantages and it could be like their almost human and they help each other out on their journey. like a disney movie but with these awesome trucks .hahahahh
no i get what your saying though you want to make a real ,well done documentary about the trucks and the people who own them i think that's awesome.
