Bamboo is starting to take off here in southern Ontario, Canada. I'm looking forward to planting some myself this spring 8)

I have a bit of bamboo in my backyard and I am in Toronto. I have sprayed it with round-up, poured gas on it and even dug it up.... It keeps on growing!

Ya, bamboo is a lot like Zebra Grass, goes dormant in the winter and will live through a lot of adversity. Also makes a great hardwood harvest for decorative purposes or more functional things such as a Tiki bar....... :P

What species are you planting in the cold climates? I am in Colorado and the winters can get cold and with a bit of snow. The stuff needs to be hardy and easily grown.
Would prefer clumping rather than running bamboo as I will use it as a wind and visual screen and don't want my neighbors to be all over me for it ending up in their yards.

Thanks,
Morris

It's a good job there weren't a couple of guns in the photo, I'd have needed a new laptop... :D

One of my neighbors owns the Stihl dealership so I shot this for him to hang on his shop wall.
What is mounted beside your Jerry can?
Air compressor?

Yes, a 24 volt compressor from a military Hummer. I don't have an air storage tank but it works very well without it. There's a splash/mud shield around the compressor. Under the jerry can is a large ammo can mounted on its side and it holds the air hose and other goodies.
