I've got my work lined out and customers at the ready. Now I just need to firm up my route to maximize my earnings.
I have a customer in Los Angeles that wants a hard top for his 710m and I had planned on building it in Indio, Ca. If he is ready to roll on it, I can run through the south west first, deliver a haflinger up north when I'm done in So Ca. and work my way through the month and work my way down through Co. on my way home.
Question to the group is, How many folks are looking for stuff or need my services in the South West as I make my loop? Feel free to post here or PM me as I need to make my plans in the next two days.
I will be leaving my area on the 5th of Jan.

Any details on the hardtop you will be building or does the design stage start once you arrive?
Just out of interest sake - do you have portable tools you bring with you or do you have places to work lined up - just wondering.

Re: Fat Fabrications Winter Fab Tour 2014
I have 2 designs.
The first will be simplistic.
-18ga, flat sheet(no ribs) wrapped over the rear bows and bow supports with foam gasket where it meets the front and rear roll members.
-Then hurricane hinge will be used on the left and right sides with twist lock T handles to secure the sides to the truck. Windows optional.
-The front will also use the existing bow and bow supports, but will have a flange to bolt to the top of the windshield frame, and fasteners to attach to the upper door jamb/bow supports.
-The rear will have a door upper made to match the door. The surrounding rear area will get a one piece fill in pannel that will clamp mount and bolt in to existing holes.
The second will be similar but reinforced to carry load and double as a roof rack. with a small railing around 3 sides if not all four. This one will not use stock supports or bows.

Re: Fat Fabrications Winter Fab Tour 2014
I got some steel pipe rub rails from Andre this weekend. Here is one mounted on Andre's truck

I can't wait to get them powder coated and mounted on my Pinzi.
I hope that I never have to use them anything other than tying down loads or as a convenient place to prop beverage containers
but they'll be there if I do. They'll look way better than the bunch of rusty screws sticking out of the side of the truck that I have now.
He also had a nice tank guard that he was working on too.
