I'm experiencing some annoying forum behavior and I'm trying to determine if it is on my end or the server end. I login with the 'Log me on automatically each visit' box checked. Many times after I've read a topic and want to go to to a different topic and I find that I've been logged out. I must login again to see which forum topics have unread postings.
I use Chrome as my browser and I'm wondering if it is dropping my cookie randomly or is the forum server dropping me somehow. It's an annoyance, not a fatal flaw. I just wonder what's causing it.
I haven't tried a different browser - yet...
Anyone else experiencing this kind of behavior? A year ago, if I recall correctly, I could stay logged on for months without being dropped.
I passed this by Vince and he hadn't heard of anything like it being reported.
Thanks!

Re: A forum related technical question...
I've had this happen on my Mac when I used Safari. What happened it when I first loaded whatever forum I was visiting, it cached the page. So after I logged in and went to a page and came back, instead of re-downloading the page, it just used the cached version. The problem was, the cached version didn't have me logged in.
There are a few things you can check. Make sure your Chrome settings allow cookies from the site, increase your cache allowance, and keep it updated.
Most importantly though, make sure if you have any anti-virus or 'computer cleaning' software that it is not cleaning any temporary files. That will cause this issue 100% of the time.

Re: A forum related technical question...
Haven't been having any problems staying logged in on any of my devices.
Knowing what operating system your using may help provide some clues.
I run Chrome on IOS, XP, Windows 7 and 10 also run I.E. on the MS platforms and Safari on the IOS devices and what ever browser my ICS based HTC phone runs.
Makes my head hurt when I realize how many computers I use, some for play some for work.

Win 7 Ultimate, Windows Firewall, MSE, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Home Premium. All updates are current. This configuration has been running for >3 years with no problems.

My status still says "Last visit was: Fri Aug 01, 2014 3:25 am" even though I am on this site several times a week.

Hmmm, maybe a time keeping problem with the server. Posts to topics seem to have the correct time, but I also see the Last visit time discrepancy.
