All most legal in the UK

Post by EX-INF »

Hello all ,
As you know a couple of weeks ago I went from the UK to Sweden to buy a TGB13 6X6 command cab.
Insurence done, M.O.T. now done ( when the test centre decided what it was. it passed first time which for a 30 year old motor is fantastic , at one stage there was five mechanics all over it ! ).
Next stage is off to Brimingham DVLA office to regester the Volvo, then its full service time and off to wales green laning with the lads .
Im temped to go back to Sweden and buy a low milage TGB11 or a TGB1111 ( Great fot tank hunting round town ).
Are the 4X4s the same to drive as the 6x6 is there a lot of diffence with the gearing ?.
So if all goes well at DVLA an other TGB will be on the road in the UK next week .
thats it for now

Caught in the endless 712/101/303 trap - interested in what you have found having driven it for a bit.

Hello Brit712,
I cant coment on the 712 but I have owned two 101s a GS and a amb,
the 306 that I own now is a far better bit of kit seats that move doors that lock, good heating , portal axles, and loads of diff locks.
the C306 is taking me and the lads to a offoad fun day on sunday for the true test.
all the best

See, that is what I would miss if I got a Volvo then - the sheer joy of all that DISCOMFORT!!!!

Hope you have a good run out tomorrow - any chance of some fotos?

Roy's Volvo - acquired at last!

Hi Cliff,

Just back from Ormskirk having bought Colin McDemott's TGB1314 last night.

It's complete and mechanically 'as new' less the petrol auxilliary heater, but Colin threw in a diesel Webasto aux heater for me.

It has done only 4500 miles - not always a great thing as the seal in the water pump has just gone (they dry out in storage and fail when heated up in use). I'll keep a close eye on other rubber components for the same reason.

So new water pump on the way from Sweden. Intersetingly Colin bought a B30 water pump from an Amazon specialist - it's a different size and will not go onto the C3 engine.

I'm hoping to collect the vehicle at the end of next week, so maybe I could
drive back via Dudley for the inaugural UK C3 meeting ??

All the best,

Roy
