Hello Pinz people,
Starter or solenoid going bad, replacing.....took off harness from solenoid and these two smaller wires detached, appears to be damaged by a short? Truck is running great, so not sure what that is about. So the remaining wires look like this and it has a little black one that I have no clue where it goes. The black one doesn't seem to have a connector. What wires are feeding that solenoid? Is there four?

Re: Harness for Solenoid
Here's a different attempt at the pictures.....smaller size
Re: Harness for Solenoid
Your attached images are not rendering for me ??
But.... There should be only one Black smaller gauge wire ~16AWG
connecting to the Solenoid, which comes from the dash Starter button.
The heavy gauge terminal on the Starter motor should have 5 wires
(model dependant) 4 Red, 1 Black to Battery and heavier gauge.
TheOne Red connects to the Ign and Headlight switches, one is a
hot bypass to the spark coil, 2 are for 24V Aux power for Radios.

Re: Harness for Solenoid
Ok, that helps me out a bit, thank you! I have the nice, colored wiring schematic that is posted on this site, yet I can't make heads or tails of it concerning the starter or solenoid. I don't see that many separate wires in the diagram. Do you have any other resources to that wiring?
Re: Harness for Solenoid
I have the color schematic as well as the printed version that comes with the Pinz manuals. The caveat is the number of taps off the starter terminal depends on the model. Specifically how many aux 24v power connectors. You may just have to ohm these paths out to isolate where that broken, possibly cut lead goes. Example, find the Aux outlets, see if there is continuity to the terminal of the intact red wires, if not then likely that cut line was likely the source for that.

Re: Harness for Solenoid
Thank you! I traced one of them back to an accessory, perhaps a heater? I noticed the little black gauge wire has just a small flat head on it, I guess it just sits in the compression screw on the solenoid. You would think that would have a round hole fastener to attach to the post?......I appreciate your help. My new version 2 starter gets here tomorrow so I'm hoping for the best

Re: Harness for Solenoid
New Starter and solenoid solved it all!......It really fires up with authority now. Version 2 fits like a glove. I wonder if anyone would want the original to refurbish?....heck, hate to through it away.
