Kiwibru,

It was easy to do. I used the same wires and did not add anything additional. On the inner LED I did not connect the brake/turn wire only the tail. The real work was getting the box modified and re-painted. I tried keeping the new holes and wire holes to a minimum.

Nice to hear Pinz and Scooter, thanks. I like simple and this makes it a much easier to do upgrade for me as I am no wire wizard and it takes me forever to do this kind of work. Much more a nuts and bolts guy I guess.

Denis, did you cut the holes (4 1/2") directly through the Pinz mud guard mounting plate? It looks like it and it certainly is a clean looking install. If so, what did you use to do the cutting, jig saw, sawz-all, other?

Looks great, I see I used the same housing that you did.

My LEDs are almost too bright. But better seen than not seen.

I used super brite lights from truck stuff.com and modified the housing to fit.

I put my aux heater in last year Webasto 2000. Big help this winter for the back end of my 710M.

we installed boxes upside down ( so they would be flush and less visable holes)and plugged drain holes and added paint as the only mods ASL LIGHTS fit without problem . have both doing all three functions

How many hours before they started failing?

I have noticed that the tail light brightness is very close to the brake light brightness. It was hard to tell when the brake light goes on if all four were on as tail lights. I fixed this by having one light tail and the other brake/tuen only. This way you can see a different light come on for the brakes. Maybe it could be from the lack of a load on the system now that I have LED lights.

LED Lamps

Post by Wayne Roberts »

I used the same housing as AK Nimrod but used the Trucklight Super 40 LED lamps in 24volt. They have continued to work flawlessly. They are designed to work on class 8 trucks and they are designed for excessive vibration. I have found that you get what you pay for when discussing lights. When I was a heavy truck mechanic, my shop would only use Trucklight and always had great luck with them. The Super 40 lamps have rubber mounted internals to provide a way for the vibration not to affect the lamps. They are not available in clear that turns to red though. Try a set of these lamps (available anywhere that heavy truck parts are sold) and I am sure that you will be pleased with the results.

I, too, run the ASLs, two amber and two red. I have them mounted in rubber grommets in a home-fabbed box mounted over the stock light cutouts. I've had them more than two years with no problems whatsoever.
