Remember to allow yourself clearance for sliding those panels on. They don't come straight off, you slide them on/off from the hinge end.

Just noticed that when I literally tore off the old rotted masonite today.

Might just keep to the K.I.S.S. method.

The warning and VIN plate do look really cool on the new one.

Those that have replaced door panels for the handle "cups" did you use screws, bolts, or rivets?

The new panels were "bedliner" black so I painted the cups semi-gloss black and then used black rivets (McMaster-Carr) to mount them. Just my taste-a contrasting color may look better.

I'm leaving the cups the OD green. The panels themsleves are bedliner black. I was thinking screws or pop-rivets would be easier becuase I could install the panel without the cups, then put the cups in. I do kind of like the contrasting hardware look. Keeps the "industrial" no nonsense look to the truck.

I painted my cups desert tan to match the truck, left the aluminum unpainted. I used self-tapping, hex head screws to secure them as well as the warning plates etc.

removing doors

I installed clip pins after I removed the door pins. Makes it real easy to remove the whole door. Biggest issue is what to do with them when they are off.
I left them in camp at Calico but what to do with them when just riding? They are heavy but will really bounce around in the back while offroading. Don't want to break that new tinted glass.

Cheers,
Moris

PinzEOD had sent me pictures of a bracket that he made to hold the doors in the bed so that you could have them handy while off. I can't find the pictures right now but perhaps he could post them for everyone to see. I had planned to build a similar bracket but have not had time. Most days in Florida I just leave the doors at the house but having them with me for the afternoon storms would be nice.

Not to complicate things even more but here is a very cool idea that has some potential

Heres the web page with more details and options:

http://www.quadratec.com/sb/bestop/element_door.htm

The reason I like it is that you can remove a outer skin to allow for a more open air feel while still having the security of some protection. Plus it just has a feel that fits the Pinz style.

Ha Ha Miles I just got my Quadratec catalog in the mail today and that was on it. I thought, "Wow, that would be cool for the Pinz." There are tons of cool Jeep things that I bet could work on the Pinz with the correct "tweaking".

I would REALLY like to have a soft upper door like:

I don't know if these are the pics I sent, but they are the only ones I could find. I can take some fresh ones if there is need.
