Actually, thread engagement on these Transit wheels is marginal.

The Pinz studs just fall a wee bit too short for cone lugs. The question would be
why does a Ball seat not have an engagement problem but the cone seat does.
The answer is that a Ball seat (as per Pinz and Porche), has a force profile directed
to the surface of the wheel. The wheel and drum are flat surfaces in direct contact.
Whereas the Cone seat does not. The cone penetrates into the wheel applying a
lateral force around the stud. To make that work properly wheels machined for
cone lugs have a raised profile between the wheel and drum -- the amount of
the raised surface subtracts directly from thread engagement and that is in the
ballpark of 4 to 5mm or two threads. Thus longer studs should be used.

Again, it's a case where this is right at the edge. Will it work -- maybe, will it
fail -- maybe.

Basically, according to my measurements, the Transit wheels and factory Transit nuts have approximately .090" less thread engagement than factory wheels and ball nuts.

Are new longer studs necessary? Maybe, but I won't be losing sleep over it.

Anyone look into or try these wheels out from Nomad wheels ?

17" 5x160 with a 50mm offset, on paper would work and with a
17" wheel there are more tire options.

I have used these rims for years, until I changed to disk brakes from the Diesel, and thus I use 5 x 130 now.

I've been keeping an eye open for Wheel options.

On my 710K I have rare Beck wheels that are 16x8 re-hooped with
internal bead humps, with the original Pinz core.

They have taken a beating through the past 15 years. I also have moved
to narrower tires, 265x75-16 and find the 8" wide wheels a bit too wide.

So....these Nomad's are a scoot narrower at 7.5". And ideally, I'd prefer
255 tires with 17" there are more choices.

Interesting! Now if they just had a bead-lock version....

I confirm this,
I bought myself a Ford Transit rim (pic below) and found some 14 x 1.5 60 degrees nuts (https://www.gt2i.ch/en/conical-nuts-bol ... 24239.html) and the thread engagement is as good as the Pinz stock rims/nuts, if not better.

What is the weight of that wheel? The stock wheel is ~33 Lbs (~15Kg).
With a metal thickness of the disk at 6.4mm while the hoop is 4.5mm.
The Pinz wheels are very heavy duty.

Engagement can't be better than a Pinz wheel with a 60 degree cone lug
unless the metal stock for the disk is thinner. Typically the mushrooming
at the surface of these transit wheels is higher than a Ball seat as well.

I also see that these are 6.5" wheels not 7", watch out for your tire width.

The Ford rim on pic below weighs in at 13.5 kgs.
They are rated for 3500 kgs total weight, 935 kgs per wheel. Should be sufficient for my application. I'm going to be max 2950 kgs.

I mounted the ford rim and the 60 degrees nuts, tighten them up, and put a green mark inside the nut where the lug stops, then I removed the nut and measured inside the nut between 18mm and 19mm thread engagement. Not very different than the thread engagement of my stock Pinz rim and nut. The ford nut with it's 60 degrees angle and narrower cone goes deeper pass the rim than if you were to use the Pinz nut on the ford rim, so i think it's worth buying these 14 x 1.5 60 degrees nuts if one will use the Ford rim. If you use the stock Pinz nut and the Ford rim, i get only 16mm engagement.

I'm gonna go for BFG 265/75 R16 which fit these rims nicely. Can't find the 255/85 R16. I need to stay with what is written on the Puch document, as I will be presenting my truck at the DMV soon. They told me i can go for tubeless rims provided dimensions are the same. Only the offset is different by 10mm, i think i can get away with this for a 50 years old vehicle.

That weight implies a good heavy duty Transit rim -- that's good!

Just FYI you cannot use the Pinz lug nut on a cone seat. The Pinz
nuts are ball (radius), just like a Porche 911.

Your probably OK on thread engagement with a OEM Ford wheel.

I picked up a newly manufactured Transit wheel replacement last year,
made some measurements and found that particular manufacturer had
marginal thread engagement. This was due to the way they stamped the
disk resulting in a raised surface facing the drum reducing engagement.
That wheel was only 12 Kg with thinner stock. It made me uncomfortable.

I recently picked up a used 7" OEM Ford Transit wheel and the disk is fairly
flush with the drum surface, heavier stock, and weighs almost the same as
a Pinz wheel at 13Kg, yet more exposed thread. So I think OEM Transit
wheels are fine, the aftermarket ones may be marginal.

There are rules of thumb for engagement, but the key is >6 unchamfered
full threads so each thread can carry load. The top thread of the stud is
chamfered so doesn't count, threading at the bottom of the lug nut has
to count when the wall thickness is sufficient.

Factoring all the above in, on the OEM Ford wheel I have, I get a bit over
~6.5 unchamfered threads of engagement. Your probably in the same ballpark
with a OEM wheel.

BTW the minimum rim width for a 265 tire is 7". With a 6.5" rim, I think that's
fine, but your inspectors might think otherwise.

I'll present them the attached letter from Puch, hopefully that'll be enough ?
I would prefer to buy 255/85 R16, but i just can't find them in stock over here,

finally, after thinking about it, i''ll go for this tire:
BFGoodrich ALL Terrain T/A KO2
235/85 R16 120/116S 10PR  RWL  3PMSF

It ticks all the boxes i needed, and is ok for the 6.5 rim,
so only the Ford rim offset is slightly different (60) than the stock Pinz rim (~70)
But i should be able to convince my inspector about this,

Indeed! I too plan on moving down to 235/85 for my next set of tires.

I currently run with 265/75 on my 710K, and I find these a wee bit too
wide -- Ya, others would disagree.

AS far as the off-set difference goes, it's going in the right direction giving
a slightly wider track width -- more stability.

I have K02 on mine.

Also I will be making a set of steps and wheel center caps for the transit wheels soon. I have a tester already setup so once I get a set tested, I can do more for anyone who wants them.
