Fuel gauge

Post by rollingpinz »

Hello

A while ago, I cleared the accelerator pump jets at the cost of my fuel gauge. Of course, I didn’t know what the issue really was. Gauge, sender, broken wire, or bad connection. The field was wide open.
Well, last night, I went for a drive and guess who showed up for the party? That’s right. The fuel gauge was reading 1/2 tank. Then, it went back to empty.
This led me to believe the gauge and sender were ok and I’d have to chase down a bad connection. So, today, I turned on the ignition and wiggled connectors until the gauge came alive again. No luck. Then, I looked at the top of the tank thinking maybe something was pressing on the connection there. That’s when I saw threads that told me there was an access panel above the sender. So I opened it and wiggled the connector.
Success! Now, of course, the fuel gauge light stopped working. I’ll have to tackle that tomorrow. I drive mostly during the day anyway.
So the point of this story is the access panel. Hopefully this helps someone else.
How would an ice-age end without global warming?
