Canvas top repairs

Post by Eric »

Greetings,
I have seen plenty of help/advice on repairing or replacing the windows in the canvas top. My problem is that the leather tabs that hold the rubber cord that goes down the side of the vehicle are starting to break (many are cracked). Is there someone out there who has replaced these leather tabs? Is there a special procedure for replacing these? Since they are riveted onto the top I do not wish to make matters any worse! If I can figure out my parts book, I may try to order the various pieces required from SAV. I would love to hear from anyone who has sorted this issue out. Or for that matter, if someone has or knows of someone with a good used OEM top that perhaps they have upgraded with an insulated top and might sell their old one...
I need both front and rear, but the rear top is the worse of the two. Feel free to contact me off list.
Thanks for any help or leads,

Eric,

I took my top to a canvas shop and they simple folded over some leather and made a new tab for the metal hook to go through. certainly not original but very functional.
