Hub leaking oil
I've noticed some gear oil leaking from a small round hole on the reduction gear hubs on my 710. I've opened the fill plug to check the oil levels and oil came pouring out, so I'm assuming the the levels are fine. Does anybody know why these little holes are there, and why oil is coming out? Thanks for any help, Dave.

That hole is to the inside of the brake shoe area. It takes the lube leaking out of the seal and directs it away from the brake shoes. Kind of an early warning system.
First remove the fill plug and let it drain until it stops. If it is flowing out, it is too full. When you drive and build heat it could cause excessive pressure. Next degrease the area around the hole and inside the hub. Drive it for awhile and re check. No further leakage, it's ok, more leakage and your looking at changing a hub seal some day. Before it gets worse and leaks enough to get brake shoes wet.
Best of luck and high scoring.
