Speaking of carbs: Idle Adjustment Screws

Post by todds112 »

This part is pretty vague in the service manual. Do you adjust the two on the same carb the same amount? I see where it says to screw them all the way in, then out 2-2.5 turns to start. After that do you just adjust them the same, or is there any reason to adjust them individually (on same carb). Seems odd to have 2 of them.

When synching the carbs, which one is the target? i.e do you set the front to match the rear or meet in the middle, etc?

Adjust idle screws one at a time.
Turn the screw in till engine stumbles, then back it out till it smooths out.
After all 4 are adjusted, re-check balance with sync tool, both carbs must be the same reading, Engine warm idle speed 850-950 rpm
