All time NEWB question about o-rings.

Post by todds112 »

How do I buy them? Just compare what you take out? Are there metric and OEM sizes?

i.e. The parts manual lists the o-rings for the dip-stick as: OR 15, 3x2, 4 and Silikon 514? Can I just go to NAPA and ask for this and they'll know what I'm talking about?

Duhhh. :?

Yes they come in Metric and Imperial sizes.
Yes you can get "Some" from Napa depends upon the dealer and bloke behind the counter. Remember some guys don't read too well others cannot use a vernier to measure the O rings so frustration might set in!

Your best bet is to seek out a bearing/seal stockist who will want to know whether you want the O ring in Neoprene, Viton, or Buna, for the most part. Generally for a Pinz you will need Neoprene.
Happy hunting

Thanks Dennis, which one of those numbers is the actual size? I'm guessing one number is the diameter another is the thickness of the rings?

I can see you are refering to the O ring in silicon sealing the dip stick tube to the block extn! ? Si O No Senor?
Yes the dims are as described

That might be a hard one to find at a seal stockist but easily sourced through the dealer network.

I do not like this word "bomb." It is not a bomb. It is a device that is exploding. Jacques le Blanc

Thanks. Looks like there are two shown on the parts manual. Trying to get everything lined up for a wrenching day (once I can stand up).
