Flasher Relay Installation Question

Post by IwanaPinz »

Recently I lost my turn signals and my emergency flashers. I purchased a replacement flasher relay from SAV. I was happy with the new unit because it came with directions for installation.
But even with directions I can’t seem to get it right.

The instructions read:
C = Blue Wire (no problem)
49a = Yellow/Black Wire (no problem)

Now here comes for me the confusing part.

49 = Green Wire; Well the green wire has two ends with one that leads from one connector to another on the old unit.
The new unit came with a black wire connected to the fourth terminal marked “31”

First try
I connected green wire to the 49 terminal and the other end of the green wire to the end of the supplied black wire.
(I screwed up at first and misconnected the green and the yellow black, pulled the flasher got a buzzing sound from the unit and a steady red light from the pull switch. Panicked because I thought I fried the unit.)
I did it the right way or what I think is the right way and got nothing.
That’s where I stand.

I have include two photo links to my Flickr account

What do I need to do make the universe balanced again?

Provided that is a flasher and not a relay in the picture, You are only supposed to use 3 wires, Green=X, 49, or 49+, Blue=P,C, Yellow/Black=L or 49A.
Secure the extra wires.

I have the SAV unit installed and I didn't use the supplied short black wire. I will check it when I get to work in the morning and take a picture for you.

Brian...Blue to "C", Yellow/Black to "49A", Green to "49", and Black "31" to ground.
