Ball Joint Pitting

Post by SAM. C. »

Hi All

I have been cleaning my pinz thourughly before treating any rust spots and I have noticed some small pits on the large front ball joints. These are pretty small and are not causing any leaks as they are in areas that are only used on full lock. Is there anything I can do to either repair this or stop it from geting any worse? Or should I even be concerned, I used to have a Land Rover 101 and it had worse pitting than this and it never caused a problem.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

Sam

Good question Sam, I too have a small dime size spot on the right hand ball that has lost the chrome and wondered about it too!

30 Yrs as a Mechanic and the phrase I remember the most is "If it ain't broke don't fix it!" A new seal is cheap, when needed compared to "resurfacing" the area in question. 8) Drive and enjoy!
