Anyone used a product called Rust Bullet? They say its better than Por-15 but you know how that goes, everyone's got a better mouse trap. The only advantage I can see for Rust Bullet is it doesn't need a secondary UV protective coat.
Also what have any of you done for the aluminum cases, Diff's & Gear boxes, as far as protective coatings if any. Don't want to mess with the natural heat disipation of the aluminum by painting on something to heavy. Any special paints that enhance heat disipation.

Miles,
I have gone through about two quarts of Rust Bullet in my Pinz restoration. I used it on rusted areas and exposed under carriage areas were the under coating had failed. I then used a thick water based coating (Kool Seal black patch) to renew the under coating were needed. R.B. seemed to work very well and it seems to be tough stuff, time will tell! Limited colors available though. I found that if I applied the desired color over the R.B. after about six hours the bonding of said color was really good.

I've used both POR-15 and Rust bullet. Rust bullet is the way to go. I use Wurth grey undercoating over the Rust bullet. The undercoating takes paint good. All the body below the rub rails is painted with USMC low luster green from RAPCO. It does a nice job for a rattle can. Touchups are a breeze.
I also like the POR-15 putty.
Never painted any of the drive train.
