Post by IA712 »

I stumbled across this news story from yesterday:

http://www.baesystems.com/Newsroom/News ... 62424.html

Please ignore if this is old news.

Please forgive me as it escapes me who took these pictures. I just put them together to keep them in one place.

I don't know what the size difference is between this concept and the actual production model but it appears to be very similar.

The armour catch was made here in Wichita the had one parked in the back but i couldn't see the front. They made up enough for a hundred pinzgauers

Too late Miles, I saw it  .... and after I picked myself up off the floor I damm near passed out again when I saw it a second time.

Surely if you going to spend all that money developing a new model Pinzgauer, you can spend a few extra dollars to hire a Industrial Designer to come up with an aesthetic design "better" than that ... (I know first year ID students who could come up with far more pleasing designs and ergonomic forms)

AT - Armor / BAE must be still using the janitor to do the design work and the tea lady to "sign off" on the design concepts!

Engine wise, and given the specifications listed on the BAE site, I believe they are fitting the new Pinzgauer with the STEYR M1 - M16 TCA (HD) Monoblock motor.
http://www.steyr-motors.com/products/products01.htm
6 cylinder, 3.2 litres, 145 KW, 360 Nm
.... Looks nice (a hell of a lot better than the vehicle body  )

The Brits have produced some ugly vehicles but then again they have also produced some of the best ..... The current Jaguar XKR and the Aston Martin DBS, DB9 and Vantage range have been voted a number of times as been amongst the best looking car in the world..... and I'd agree.

Now ugly cars and the US .... Hmmm, well all I'd say is; "Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones"

I guess most countries have their fair share of beautiful and ugly vehicle designs
.... and besides, it all comes down to whether you prefer Cadillac Escalade or the Range Rover

HEY,HEY,HEY. I resemble that remark. .... A Pinz, Haf and Mog. D90,Range Rover and Vampire. Dodge, GMC and Ford trucks.
I am the Ugly American, and I 'll toss all the stones I want... and a couple of boulders with the forklift, and you won't get near my glass house, I live next to a rock quarry! (easy re-armament) :D

BTW, what has come out of OZ?.... other than kangaroos... a 6' bouncing rat

Cheers
Dave

Ugly or not, I'ld take one if they'ld like to give me one to "road-test" for publicity here in the US.

Couple million visitors here a year, from many nations across the world, some are gov't officials...hello BAE Systems...helloooo.
