Drop-side bed
Has anyone seen or has modified the side bed of an M to allow the side to hinge or remove for easy loading of wide items in the rear? I think I've seen photos of a factory mod of this years ago.

The drops sides are used on the newer 716/18s for loading of pallets from the sides. The rear panels are still fixed ( since the rear door is hinge and latched to the side pieces).
A resourceful person could make folding sides using either wide throw or swing clear hinges ( to fold the sides clear of the rub rails), and re-enforcing the area around the rear rollbar to make it structurely sound.

Those are weapon platforms... they sit inside the body of a 712T ... they install like an AMB or any other add on body.
One of those was offered to me back in '01....I was a sucker for different MVs back then, you'd thought they were rabbits in my parking lot.

That's a weapon platform,
...too bad they don't have a pic from the rear, there is a cutout in the rear canvas that the barrel went through while stowed..... bet no one would tailgate ya with a barrel sticking out the back.
Maybe Sean will pop in, he had one or so for sale years ago.. and some good pics.

I got to say, there was a better selection of Pinzgauers pics (especially TDs) on the web 4 years ago.
I'll need to dig through my archive to find the pic of a 718M being loaded by a forklift ( not mine
). and has the sides folded down... but in the meantime, here a pic of a 716 thay shows the wide throw hinges.
