Cool Volvo in Oregon

Just a week into my 3 week vacation here in Oregon, and visiting friends at their beach house in Lincoln City, I saw this cool Volvo C303 6x6 Firetruck, I am sure Vince or Dave can give the correct model, I was told the owner uses it for fun and he is a member of the local SAR team and it gets used a lot for rescues both mountain and beach, below are a few pics, the black "paint" is actually full body rino liner, looks pretty good in person and I am sure has saved the owner from tons of body work with all the trees you have to do battle with here....

I also belive from the looks and feel standing next to it that it is a few feet longer than my 712M too.

I think it is the 306 version which is longer than the regular 304 (six wheeled) and if it was originally a fire truck, it should have the higher geared axles. I think that one should break the 65 mph mark on level ground.

I agree it is a Volvo C306 Ex Fire truck Same as the TGB20 but as to what axle ratio it has well it could be the lowest as in the TGB 20 or the intermediates used by the TGB13 as yet the verdict is unconfirmed I understand about weather any other ratio could be used as in the TGB11 or other because there is little space for the PTO. There are comments about on the Yahoo forum that some one has an ex fire truck that can easily exceed 60mph but I think to date no one knows if it is achieved by a bigger diff, bigger reduction gearing (unlikely, lack of space) or higher gearing in one of the gear boxes.

I think that I would junk the winch as it protrudes far too much and must weigh a ton. I think that these vehicles are a little to long for me I preferred TGB13

What are the hoses going behind the spare for,did I miss something?

They look like hydraulic couplings, perhaps for a winch or some other equipment.

Perhaps a wheel crane or hoist

Werhman,

When I was standing there looking it over I noticed a connector like the one on the side of the winch at the rear so I know the winch is movable to the rear, the hoses your talking about go behind the spare and I didnt see where they go to, I could only assume they are for the water pump for fire fighting, others who know about the firetrucks would probably know if they have a PTO driver hydraulic water pump, just my guess since I took the pic's and I have to assume since the lot was closed the day I was there.
