Calico Mogfest 09 Oct 15th through 18th, 2009

Post by David Dunn »

Well, Calico Mogfest 08 is long over ( 2 weeks ago) .... and signup for Calico Mogfest 09 is up and already half of the prime sites are reserved!
So, anyone desiring a campsite with full hookups may want to reserve soon, or for those that want more primitive sites, call Calico directly and reserve your dirt with them, but register (with a tentative head count ) for food.

The reserved spaces are for Friday and Saturday nights ( Oct 16th and 17th), and anyone planning to be there either earlier or longer need to call Calico to reserve those dates and campsite location ( on top of registering)

From Alan
List;

It looks like a few people had a good time this year based on the early sign
ups for next year! We have Vini the pizza guy on board to help out with
meals so expect another culinary extravaganza.

The camping fees went up this year from $44 to $50 for the weekend and at
this point we plan to keep the $30 event/food fee the same. No need to pay now
unless you want me to make interest on your funds for the next eleven
months; whoopee!

Any questions or comments feel free to contact Joe O or me and we will do
our best to help out. You like the way Joe just got elected to do the event
again next year??

Dave,

Already signed back up a few weeks back, just checked the site out and was amazed at the number of non mog and pinz vehicles comming, not opposed but thought the original intent was for just mogs and pinzgauers, hopefully this wont turn into a anything goes typ of event.

Eric
I had noticed the same thing too, But, you mentioned "thought the original intent was for just Mogs and Pinzgauers".... but in reality, Pinzgauers, Haflingers, Volvos and Supacat is just as much as a guest to Mogfest as anything else. I remember my first Calico trip, and Pinzes were a gnat to the Moggers then.

The NWMF has welcomed vehicles of all European desent, and has had Japanese 4x4s also.
The Gathering has grown from Pinzes the same way.

To be more than a guest at these events, remember:
Ask not what the Mogfest can do for you, but rather, what you can do for the Mogfest

The latest from Alan
List;

October 16-17-18 will be the MogFest in Calico once again. All of the pre-reserved camping spaces are spoken for but there are many still available in sections C-F. So far we have over 125 signed up and I'm sure more to come.

For the first timers, the registration fee of $30 per adult/juvenile which covers dinner on Friday and Saturday nights and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. We have a number of trail runs over the three days, a huge raffle on Saturday night and general family rated fun.

For more info on the event go to www.mogfest.com and you can see who has signed up, where they are camping, pictures from previous events, FAQ's and directions.

For more info on the Calico Ghost Town go to www.calicotown.com which also has a link to on-line camping reservations. The Ghost Town is open to all campers for no additional charge.

The pre-reserved spaces are $50 for the two nights (Fri & Sat) and we have already paid the deposit in advance. Please send the event and camping fees as soon as possible as we need to start buying supplies for the event. Here is the contact info for payment:

Alan Draper
1316 Aldersgate Dr
LaVerne, CA 91750
or
via PayPal to - alndnese@aol.com
NOTE: please add $3 to cover PayPal fees as they add up quick!

This is a non-profit event and all excess funds are rolled back into the event either by purchasing additional camping gear or applying the funds to the next years' event.

Thanks and we will keep the updates coming!

A month and a week away! Can't wait! Maybe if we're lucky we can get that light tropical breeze we got last year!

There's forecast for rain at Calico this week. And nice weather for the weekend. But be ready for anything.
I'm taking a mooring anchor... I might get lucky and be able to swim Garfield in the campgrounds!
My campsite's on a little higher ground... I'll have beachfront property, with a dock. 8)

The weather forcast for Yermo:
