Hello everyone. I am new to the pinzgauer world. We just purchased two 710 M's. They are both pretty much "plain jane", with no after market add-on's.

What advice do you have on things to do to these (including maintence). They both seem fairly worn (of course they are from the 70's) and don't wanna go over around 45-50 mph. I'm guessing this is about what they are built for, though. These will be used mainly on the ranch, but sometimes in town.

One thing I want to do is get some lights for the inside (like a dome light or something similar) and also off-road lights. Is it easier to find 24v lights, or do some type of 24-12 conversion? I can wire just about anything on 12v, but don't really know anything about 24v.

Any advice on these would be appreciated. Thanks everyone and be safe!

24V items like lights are not that difficult to find. It may be easier to get 12V things like radios so a converter is useful for that. Just put a fuse in the line to keep it all safe.

The data sheet does not mention if the converter is compatible with the voltage transients and spikes which do occurr on any vehicular electric system, or is rather suited for stationay applications with "clean" DC.
Did you actually install it on a vehicle?

Welcome to the forum and welcome to another Texan although Pampa is about as far from Houston as you can get. (What do you think, 9 or 10 hours???)

I will post a photo later and get the name of the manufacturer but I found a very cool "strip light" that has 3 individual LED lights and it works great. I've mounted it to the steel cross member and it's super bright.

You might take a run down to Amarillo and go to a lighting supply store and see what sort of battery powered items they have.

By the way, this light, I've added a velcro strip to it so that I can move to a location in the rear of the Pinz too.

hi and welcome, one of the first things i would do is change all of the fluids as needed engine oil, and the 8 gear boxes underneath. also flush the hydraulic fluid in the 4wd , and locker levers. then flush the brake lines out. and finally bust out your grease gun and hit the fittings. then at least you know that all of your fluids are fresh and that everything is lubricated properly. one less thing to worry about.

oh yeah and then you want to do a complete tune up. fuel filter,plugs, wires, cap ,rotor, and check and adjust the valve clearance and make sure the timing is correct then your pinz will go 100km an hour no problem.

ugo - so do you think there's a potential problem regarding spikes/transients? i know they exist seeing how they eventually destroyed 2 sets of led taillights in a 712amb i owned. not sure if it's a concern with this eq, tho. any thoughts? i need to get another one for this pinz i have now.

Welcome to Pinzland! The 710s should do better than 45 mph. My 710M even with a ton of feed in it will do 55 easily. Takes a little longer to get there but once it's rolling it's fine.

I've gotten clip on LED lights at Home Depot for both my Pinzes and they work fine. I have one clipped to the sun visor on the driver's side and one on one of the rifle holders on the passenger side.

Get a good 24 to 12 converter. I use mine for my GPS. I use the GPS mainly on the ranches for feeder locations, but it makes a super backup to the spedometer.

Think about getting the Petronix ignition.

What kind of tires do your Pinzes have?

Follow the above advice about fluid changes, that is solid gold.
