Tan Jerry Can Insulating Covers

Post by milesdzyn »

Anyone looking for the TAN Jerry Can Insulating Covers. I just picked up 4 with a best offer of $25.00 each + shipping. I'm not associated with the seller, just remember some of you were looking for these a while back. He's got 6 left in the auction.

Are you worried about your jerry cans catching a cold?

No

It's those hot desert days I'm worried about, drinking hot water sucks.
Thou the first 10 gallons will be ice cold thanks to this 10 gallon Aervoid thermos...

Still I'd like to keep the 20 gallons of reserve water at a drinkable temp.

Same thing is often available from Sportsman's Guide.
Got mine $25 for 2, donated one at NWMF for the raffle.

Miles I like the storage cases you have in the bed of your truck, could you share where you found them and what they were originally used for?

Thanks Ed

Not sure about Miles but I got mine through Sportsman'sGuide. Originally medical storage and transportation chests, water tight, air tight and aluminum construction. Come in three sizes...approx 31'' x 31'' and 7'', 9'' and approx 17'' high. The 17'' is two mid size ones together. Great buy if you get them.

I got 4 of the medium medical boxes from Sportsman's guide. Look carefully at the price.
They now sell the very same box at two different prices. ($79.99 and $99.99) No difference- xcept the price.
e-bay has the large sized boxes, 2 for $75.00:

I found that 5 of the night vision boxes fit perfectly across behind the cab divider and still let the rear seats fold down:

They are like a lighter gauge ammo box. I removed the foam lining with heat gun, and hold them to the bulkhead with three or four 3/4 inch rare earth magnets from the local hardware store. holds them pretty tight, but allows them to come off with a good pull, and no drilling of Pinz or boxes. Plenty of storage and looks like that space was just made for these.

Ed....Those cases are Medical transport cases and as stated above come in quite a few sizes and variations. They are all standard in width and length (19.5" x 31")

The ones with a flat lid come in either Small @ 7.5" in Height or Medium @ 10.5" in height.

The Large @ 17" an X-Large @ 22" come with storage lids and are much larger and unless your storing really light items can be to heavy to manage easily.

This Pic shows the Medium, Large and X-Large containers.

The Insert is ment for the Medium container but should fit the base of the Large and X-Large as well.

They fit perfect in the rear of the Pinzgauer. I'll be running 4 on the Left side and 4 along the Right side. 3 will sit in the center well and provide the platform for my bed.

I can highly recommend these cases, as I have used them for storage for years. I currently have 11 Mediums 1 with the Insert and 5 Smalls.

I purchased them from many sources, Colemans Surplus, eBay, and local Military Surplus stores. On average expect to pay $60.00 each plus shipping so try to find them locally as shipping can run up to $50.00 each sometimes. Many places are out of stock right now but new supplies hit the market from time to time so just keep looking.

Gosh looks like everyone knew about these boxes except me. Thanks for the great responses, look like an excellent solution for my storage dilemmas. Less expensive than a lot of the short life Tupperware too.
