Does this clutch look worth using

Post by mopar »

I blew my clutch getting stuck in a mud hole. A friend of mine gave me a used clutch he believes to have almost no miles on . Not having any experience with doing a clutch I was wondering if you could tell by looking if this clutch would be worth using because the price is right or does it look very worn and I would not get any significant amount of use from it before I need to change it again?

Best to get new unless you want to do it again
Get the reman parts if you need to save a few $

You do realize the disk is burnt and the pressure plate surface shows evidence of heat damage from slippage and may chatter if used:(
Weak pressure plates will only get worse.
You can get all new BMW 733i clutch and pressure plate for around $250
Look at the reman units at SAV. Good prices and I have installed a few of them with no issues

Jim, does the BMW 733i clutch have the same longevity of the OEM equip? I don't want to cheap out, but a good value is always on my radar......

Seems the pressure plate is the issue on my truck, but a new one here is $200. If I can get the disc and plate for a bit more, sounds reasonable.

The BMW clutch is more robust(rated over 230HP) vs 89hp. Much better than stock. Remans from SAV are also a good choice.
