..until now. I have had my pinz for a few weeks now, but only began driving it a few days ago. (insurance and plates and all..) I couldn't be happier. the whine reminds me of my years in the marine corps flying on ch-46 helocopters, its actually kind of pleasant. I will admit being tempted to drive around traffic on the grass a few times, but judgement got the better of me.
No major issues as of yet, a little sputtering at first, but a fresh tank of gas and some seafoam cleared that up. My carbs do have a slight leak, not at the base, but right in the middle. would some rtv be an ok temporary fix as i plan to drive it back to cali on monday?

sounds like the base screws have worked loose. really not a hard fix. pull the carbs, turn upside down and tighten the 4 screws in the base.

Never use RTV where there is fuel. I suggest making sure the Jet cover o rings are rotted(gas leaking from covers) and as mentioned by previous post, make sure the bases are secure.

Had a similar problem from mine as it was misfiring badly this morning (turned out some idiot had put the HT leads back in the wrong order... I blame my wife's husband). The gasket 01-40-47 looked like it was in good nick but it's fairly solid. The screws were tight but there was buildup underneath (where the screw heads sit and where the centre port is) - no time to do anything about it now as have to drive off for an MOT
