Fuel Tank Coating

Post by yaknowthatguy »

figuring fuel tanks are closer to 'engine' than any other section on the site, I'll post here.....

Anybody ever coated their gas tank? I am in the midst of repairing and restoring my truck (more info soon), and will likely need to coat the tank. It was sitting for a good while, and the contents are pretty funky.

So I'm looking at Eastwood, KBS, etc - and wondered if anyone had specific opinions on what brand of tank cleaners/coating to use. All opinions appreciated! Thanks a bunch!

Check out several threads on this subject. I know the red death has plagued a number of folks o the site. Expitditon Imports sells an excellent product for coating the tank inside.

see, and I was thinking the red death was the flaking of a liner of some kind on the inside of the tank, not rust. apparently I am still the pinz n00b.

I went looking at the EI site, but didn't easily come across a tank lining product. If anyone has suggestions or a link, I'm all ears. And as usual, thanks for the help and experience!

OOPs my interpretation was wrong........I thought you meant the interior of the tank was corroding/rusting/loosing its coating (ie Red death). Intrernal coating is available through EI and the are numerous exterior coatings for rust including the POR 15 products which work well. Sorry if I misled you.

call Scott at EI for info as the products may not be on the website in pictures and he is an excellent resource for anything Pinz as you have seen through this site.
