Uploading photos to the forum - the easy solution...finally

Post by texas pinzgauer »

I was wrestling with how to upload that image of that decal in my prior post and it was eating my lunch. In walks my 17 year old and he say I'm doing it wrong (no $hit) and directs me to this website http://imgur.com/ and it was extremely easy to use.

I've never seen or used it before but it was fast and easy to use. Check it out.

this is one of the easiest sites to load pictures to. simply go down below the reply window and attach your file from your computer. No need for an outside hosting site.

I thought that is what you would be after, an easy way to show pictures to the members of the forum that would be viewing a particular post.

I haven't tried that. I only used it to post one photo but it was very easy for that. I think for a bunch of photos, like from an event, posting a link would be preferred. Just my opinion of course

I still haven't found a way to post pictures. The accepted file size is way too small; most of my pictures from the phone, a 7.2 megapixel are wayyyyy to big, nevermind stills from our big digitals.....anyone else have a problem with this?

Try this site. Attaching a photo was extremely easy.

The limited size is very adequate once a photo has been resized for posting to the net. 7.2 megapixels? Heck I never retain photos with that large a file size unless I intend to do extensive editing to them. I always resize photos if for no other reason than to save space on my hard drive. This is possibly the easiest site I frequent to post photos on. If you need advice on resizing photos please ask.

:o UPDATE

Any program that can resize images will work, for the Microsoft OS I use the Microsoft "Image Resizer" you can find it here. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... s-xp?T1=PT

When using “Image resize”

1. save your photo to your computer
2. navigate to the location you saved your photo
3. right click on the photo and select resize pictures
4. select small or medium (be kind to the users with slower connections by keeping the file size smaller) when you click OK it will make a new copy of the photo with “small” or “medium” added into the pictures file name

On http://www.real4x4forums.com in the posting window near the bottom you will find “If you wish to attach one or more files enter the details below”

1 click the browse button
2 navigate to the resized photo you want to up load and click open
3 click “add the file”
4 click “preview”
Add additional photos by repeating the previous steps
5 When your happy with the posting you have previewed click “submit”

Many use image hosting services like photobucket or flicker, the problem is often times people will later delete photos from that hosting service thereby removing it from the real4x4 post they had linked it to.

By using the procedure I outlined the photo “lives” on the real4x4 site and should be available as long as the posting is available eliminating the “photo not found” message that is so common with older postings.

looks like one of Mark's remodels.

Of course he could not leave it alone and changed it to this, as it is now.

When I was still habitating in Comiefornia, I was setting the truck up to be an off road work horse with the flat rear deck and storage in the foot well. My mobile fab/repair/ recovery truck for touring the Public lands of the south west on weekends.

My plans were to make the roof rack hinged to drop down in the back to allow for rolling atv,s and dirt bikes up on the top. Not that much demand for that design here in E Texas.
