Valve Adjustment question

I'm about to adjust the valves on my 710 and the procedure (thanks Jim L. & Jürgen) looks pretty straightforward. My main concern is oil leaks afterward. So my questions are:

1) I plan to use the cork gaskets. What sealant do you recommend?

2) Does the sealant go on both the cover and the engine or just one? Which one?

Any tips or hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Paul,

Not sure what sealant to use but only affix the gasket to the cover. Mine have been on for awhile and are not leaking after many removals
for adjustments. Someone will chime in on sealant soon. My Dad used to use Permatex and never had issues but there may be a newer
product out there.

I have not done valve cover gaskets on a pinz but have done hundreds of other gaskets on many 50's..60's..and 70's vehicles and always was done with permatex aviation form-a-gasket ..you cant go wrong..cheap to buy, easy to find use it on the valve cover side only and just a smooth even coating...no globs needed!

Morris and Pete,

Thanks for the help. I've got the Permatex Aviation so I'll use that.

I started on it tonight and found the previous adjuster had siliconed the gaskets to the covers, so I'll be removing those
and cleaning up the surface real well before installing the new gaskets.
I can see this is really not too tough a job once you've done it before.
