Convoy out to the Overland Expo from the Northeast.

Post by czarthirteen »

Hello all,

Lindsey and I are gearing up for a bit of a jaunt around the states starting in mid-May.

Sadly, due to time constraints, the Pinzgauer will not be making this trip. We'll be driving out to the Expo via a southern route in our Passat wagon and planning on doing as much primitive camping as possible.

The plan is to leave from our home in the Catskills about a week, maybe 10 days before the event. After the Overland Expo, our travels will continue up to Northern California to Mt. Shasta and then out to the coast to Humboldt.

Our return drive will be a northern route, hopefully trekking up to Revelstoke and then driving through Canada before entering New York again at Niagra Falls.

We're planning on being gone for abou a month and will welcome any other travellers during any of the legs of our journey.

This little trip is being taken as an advance scouting trip for where we may want to move to (very likely near Mt. Shasta for a year before moving closer to Humboldt State U to once again continue continuing our combined continued education.....in other words, more dgrees for the professional students in us!

Feel free to ask any questions....we're not shy.

Hope to meet some new people out there and very much wish for company on the road.

Enjoy,
Ryan and Lindsey

May all your travels bring you home.

I was involved with a group in the PNW that had many of the members participants in the Expo.

They may even have some of the group that are traveling your route. You may want to drop in on the site
and check their posts to verify who might be going. There are some members of this site that live up there
and are pinz friendly, even if you are not taking yours.

If you end up taking I-40 West through Arkansas on your way out there, I can give you the inside info on great primitive camp-sites in Northern Arkansas and Southern Missouri.

Thanks for the heads up, guys.

Larry...the Expo is five months away.....how about a family vacation?

We'll be travelling off-interstate; taking as many County Roads as possible, definitely going to be another good journey.
