keys

Post by djw »

I have three locks on my Austrian K model with this mfg (but different keys), all working.

Can these be readily duplicated (to make a backup set) in the states? Curious on experiences before I seek out a local locksmith.

Thanks for any info.

I have the same Kaba lock on the back door of my W box; if you key has the code number stamped into it then you are in luck. Call Kaba in New England, give them the number, and after they check to see if that is a "do not duplicate" key they can make them for you. They do not need your key to do this. I had one done this way back in '03; I think it cost me about $8 per key, so I just decided to get three spares made and be done with it. I can say that the lock still works great 11 years later, so the investment is worth it.

Kaba USA sort of blew me off, referring me to Kaba Switzerland. I have not chased it that far or found a contact in Switzerland, but I will put an email together and see what happens.

I have three kaba 8 locks (3 different keys too) on the truck (driver, LR, R) and no locks on the passenger, RR. I would like to get the parts to put kaba 8 locks on the remaining two and it would be a plus if it was keyed to match one of the existing keys.

Any ideas where I might kaba 8 locks or how many other parts are required to do this job?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I am curious to know if this is the same lock that SAV sells.

No it is not the one pictured at SAV. SAV's looks like a domestic lock of some kind?

If this specific to Austrian Pinzgauers (which I sort of figure out as I go along), SAV sells very few of the non-Swiss versions of anything.
