Hello from Haf (project) owner & new member !

Post by HerrFlinger »

Hello all -
Well, I've owned my SWB 4 spd Haf buggy / project now for three years and have only just found this forum - doh -
Difficult to explain my vehicle, so here it is on YouTube . . .

Needless to say, it doesn't look like that any more, as I've scrapped the top half and the rest is in large bits in the garage - sound familiar to anyone ? I'm reliably informed (by Dale at Haflinger Technik) it's 1964 (ish).

Amongst the work carried out so far is a strip down of the rear end with all tin work / suspension shot blasted and powder coated. I've also managed to get a correct year SWB platform via ebay Austria - that caused a few sleepless nights having it "posted" to the UK !

Looking forward to some banter from like minded folk . . . :D

Welcome to the board!
Looks like a fun project.
I watched your son drive your Hafi - he did a good job!
I also like how that video shows just how simple and compact a Haflinger is.
Keep us posted on your resto progress and we love pics!!!
Cheers,
Dan

Thanks for the replies - the Haflinger forum looks particularly interesting . . . .
I'm currently debating whether or not to strip the engine - It's on an engine stand and I've removed all ancillaries for refurbishment before reassembly. It ran fine prior to me taking the body off - so, do I leave as it was internally or take a look ? I'm tempted to at least remove the heads for blasting.

:)
