Re: 24v 8000lb Warn winch for Pinzgauer

I purchased a similar one from Vince a couple years ago and it is top notch. He does superb work. Do not hesitate to grab this for your Pinz.

Re: PinzSSI REDUX

Yes, I looked at getting one of the Pinztronix; again to shelf until needed. In the introductory thread it said "5 left in stock". What is the ongoing supply and support for the Pinztronix? thanks!

Re: PinzSSI REDUX

Thanks, Ron, for pursuing this. My Pinzgauer was a constant problem until I installed the PinzSSI. I have the 2.0 version, pretty sure. Since the installation it has been a new machine and a real pleasure. I cannot fathom going back to the pertronix civilian ignition that was a constant problem for ...

Re: Rusty gas tank. Use Vinegar?

Vince, have you considered a purpose made rust remover like EvapoRust? I have found it very effective on some tools but not a large tank as you describe. It works a little differently than the acids.

Re: New Optima lithium Orangetop coming

Thank you, yes it makes sense and confirms my thoughts as well. I do a lot of portable amateur radio and use a lot of LifePO4 batteries. Fortunately my primary vehicle charges at about 14.4v and does fairly well with them.

My other concern with the Optima LifePO4 battery is charging below freezing ...

Re: New Optima lithium Orangetop coming

-A lithium charger, or lithium charging algorithm, must be used for charging lithium batteries.
-Normally, no charging system or other modifications are required for use in cars and trucks.

These two bullet points seem to contradict each other. What do I not understand?

Re: Batteries

Thanks Ron as always. I just wondered. I usually have a couple 12+v batteries with me for radios that may power the pinzssi but not be good for cranking.

Re: Batteries

On a little side note and out of curiosity, if one was on the road and had this problem, could an external 12v source be applied to the PinzSSi just to get the vehicle started. The PinzSSI runs from a 24v to 12v DC to DC converter. Would bypassing the converter work? If even directly from the one ...

Re: Batteries

It is possible. If those voltages are after charging, then the 11.5v did not take a full charge and is probably bad. Cranking voltage would be even lower.
