Front Springs

Post by SAM. C. »

Hi All

Last week I removed my rear springs as the tops were looking a bit rusty.

Can anyone give me any advice as to the procedure for removing the front springs? I can see it will be similar method and I will have to disconnect the limiting strap and the shock absorber prior to removal but I can see I do not have access to remove the bottom support pin as I did on the rear. If I prop the front and lower the drive arm then will the spring come out easily of will I have to get some spring compressors?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Cheers

Those springs are very heavy. For safety reasons you really need a spring compressor to get them out.
I have removed them with two long levers and blocks of wood, but its a "ball ache".
Be careful

Hi, I used spring compressors when I pulled my front wheel assy off. And Dennis gave me the right advice too!! It was tough getting the compressor's onto the spring on the inboard side. And it was SCARY how much pressure was on them. Be careful. Paul
