The bell flange wears out, change over to the flex coupler Kit From SAV , it will greatly reduce exhaust noise and smell

Hi Sam,
The flex kit that Jim suggested is great! I installed it about 3 weeks ago and the improvement is fantastic. Part #SAV6894.
Just be very careful when removing the headers as those studs can snap off very easily if they are heavily rusted/corroded. Not fun.

Thanks Guys I have soaked all of the fasteners with WD40 and will give them a good soaking for the next week until my flex kit arrives. The leak is at the ferrule joint on the end of the manifold where it joins the main exhaust. It is the top one of the two pipes that is leaking.
Jim I think I understand what you mean with regard to grinding through the welds. I think that should be no hassle.

Ok, I have heard this both ways now so some clarification is in order.
If you can grind off the required raised lands is it ok to then just weld the flex coupling onto the exhause manifold while it is attached to the engine?
I had been led to understand that the manifolds are to be removed to do this flex pipe welding?
I have this on my "to do list" as my stock system was removed (probably long rusted out) and a short glass pack muffler was cobbled onto the stock header pipes and heater pipe. Of course it leaks and is very loud. Kind of reminds me of my air cooled VW bus days when a tuned exhaust was desired and cool. I despise having to wear ear plugs to drive the rig though so that has to change!

Due to the tight area around the manifold ends it is almost imperative to remove the manifolds in order to grind off the ring retainers. The flex coupling kit from SAV comes with clamps for attaching the coupling to the manifolds. I imagine the kit from EI does also.
