starter removal help

I'm not quite sure what you mean by a "bendix only repair", but the bendix itself is a Bosch factory sealed item.
There is a company here locally that will open the casing, regrinds the roller shaft surface and replaces the rollers for a lot less than a new unit..... I would think someone in the US does the same!
The second time mine played up (about 4 years later, after I did a big boghole) the company said there was not enough material to do it a second time so I had to source a secondhand replacement unit (that's where Dennis came to the rescue).
Like a lot of parts, this Bendix appears to be unique to the Pinny although a few other Bosch units come VERY close in specification....those used on some older Mercedes Benz (1960's, early 1970's) appear, after a brief visual inspection, to be similar, however I haven't looked into it in great detail...... besides some of those are getting as rare as Pinny's

Clicking Starter
My starter is clicking and I've tried what I've done with my LR with that starter(hit it) but that didn't work with on the pinz.
Any suggestions.
Any suggestions.
Initially I'd check the main power and earth lead to the starter, but it may also be a solenoid problem (the contacts in the end of the solenoid my be crook)

Thanks for the help fellas. I think it was the battery. I separated the batteries and took readings and got 6 volts on one of them and 12+ on the other one. I hooked a starter to the leads where the old battery was and I was able to start the pinz but it was by jumping the starter solenoid. Then I shut it down too far from where I could jump it. So I am getting two new batteries for the truck.
Thanks for the help.
