Wow! Pricey headlights!

I got the single Stop/Turn/Brake Truck-Lite LEDS. They are the standard 4 or 4.5" (can't remember) round ones that fit in a rubber grommet. I just cut the holes into the stock tail light bracket. Really bright. Hardest part was cutting the holes and getting them semi-round. The rubber grommets are pretty forgiving, though.

the housings are aluminum???!!!

here's what i see at their site: "Lens and housing assemblies constructed of impact resistant polycarbonate"

these are different from yours?

I replaced my turn signals on the H1 with these and the main housing (THE BUCKET) is aluminum where the two bolts go in the back and the LED suround/housing is composite - before the whole thing was composite with thread inserts - now it is machined aluminum with threaded holes! Really nice! Mine came straight from a Trucklite main distributor a few months ago - so they are FRESH!!!!!!

glynn, i'd sure like to see a website selling those. do you know where one is? the one you posted there is just more polycarbonate housings.

oh wait - you mean the "bucket"? the things i showed that are black? not the lights - right?

I would like to order the TD rear tail lights. Are they surface mount or am I going to cut holes to mount them? Cant tell from the pictures I have seen.

Surface mount. But you need to drill holes to run the bolts and wires thru. When you order I would order the reverse switch and install at the same time.

You will drill 3 holes, 2 for mounting and 1 for the wires. You will also have to seperate the brake and turn circuits and have to use a signal re-combiner if you wish to tow a trailer.

I have the SAV kit installed for changing out the stop lights to red. Put that in years ago. That has the lights separated.

I keep blowing the brake light filament and that causes me concern. I think it may be because the bulbs are rated at 24 volt and not 28-32.

This whole process began as a way to get brighter taillights and stop lights, and it is getting complicated. I do tow a trailer and if I have to add a circuit to get the trailer lights to work it may be easier to just add a LED light to be a brake light, much safer really.

Any suggestions on a light that has a reasonably 'stock' appearance to add for an aux brake light?

It should be noted that the combined turn signal/brake lamps are only on the Swiss Pinzes. All others already have individual turn and brake lamps.
The TD tail lamp assembly also has a socket for a rear fog lamp ( a Euro thing for higher visibility in fog for traffic behind you), some double it up with the brake lamp for more visibility. But be careful, if you pull a trailer, you could be taxing the old ciruit breaker

. You can buy led bulbs for the tail light you have now.read through the forum but your still going have to do more than just change the bulbs or your flashers won't work.
