I talked to them and this is what they said..

"Thanks so much for your email and interest in Spyderlock Wheels. We do have it listed on the website, however we need to remove it. Technically the wheel will fit but upon further examination we have discovered multiple issues with clearance, brake pads, etc... I have not had a customer inquire since late last year and it has just slipped my mind to adjust the website. I do apologize for the misrepresentation. Unfortunately I don't have anyone that I can refer you to either. It appears that I haven't been much help here.

Anyway, if I can help with anything else please let me know. Thanks again for your email and have a great evening!"

Hey undysworld,

Which should I sell? My 2010 Prius which gets 50 mpg easily everyday or my two Pinzgauers, And unimog? Not cool to make broad generalizations. To quote Robert Deniro from the movie Ronin, "it's a toolbox, you pick the right tool for the job". I couldn't afford to drive my Pinz like I do my Prius as the best I can get from my Pinz's is roughly 12 mpg. I also wouldn't attempt to drive my Prius offroad :-)

They are both the best at what they do and they appeal to me at a functional level. Further, I don't have to justify that to anyone least of all a brother Pinz driver.

I like the Ricardo design as it corrects a lot of the shortcomings of the Pinz. The windshield is basically the same profile of my K except I could actually see a traffic light instead of having to bend over like a three year old in a box. It appears to be roughly 4" taller than a regular Pinz if I interpret the spacer below the door glass. How can that be bad? I think they have come up with some rather elegant solutions to the Pinz's shortcomings if we are honest about it.

Each to his own.

I never asked you to, nor suggested that you should, justify anything. Apparently I chapped you with my comment about Priuses. No offense intended. In fact, I'm a pretty big proponent of hybrid or electric cars. They've each got their place. FYI, I've got 7 vehicles for the same reason you do: they appeal to me on a functional level.

But in case you missed it, we've just survived a determined effort here by the Wis. DOT to get rid of ex-military vehicles in general, and Pinzgauers in specific. For whatever reason, we were in their crosshairs. During that fight, they let it be known that TO THEM vehicles such as Pinzgauers were not only ugly but killing people with their lack of safety. They described hybrids as "cool", and showed pictures of Priuses as examples. Thus with no disrespect intended to you, I cited Prius owners an example of someone who might consider Pinzgauers unattractive.

(At the risk of further offending others, I will add that around this area of the country, many drivers of bicycles and hybrid or electric vehicles do tend to get a bit self-righteous towards anyone driving an internal combustion engine, especially if the vehicle looks anything beyond strictly practical.)

As to my personal opinion of Pinzgauers, this is what I wrote about Pinzgauers:
Each to their own. I prefer the stock look.
As far as what others think of Pinzgauers looks, I really could care less. Keep 'em stock, fix 'em up, do what you like to them, it's none of my business.

I think you sort of missed my earlier point, as I was basically defending the higher windshield to those who had previously expressed their opinion that it was ugly.
I'm guessing that for those guys much over 6' tall, that taller windshield looks just fine.

What's with that pipe in the rear.
The top looks like a wood stove pipe cap, and the bottom doesn't seem to go to the right place for an exhaust.
Funny location for a snorkel.....?

I believe that on 718s the snorkel intake is the small grille near the corner of the passenger window.
No idea what the stove pipe is...

It is! ....... however on my 718 it's near the corner of the "drivers" window :D :roll: :D

BTW, there is no way I'm modifying mine like the Ricardo, it just looks unbalanced/read: WRONG! ............and besides, I'm a short-arse, so I have no problem with the windscreen height :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
