What are everyone's ideas on the best place to tap into 24V power controlled by the ignition switch?
I want to power my electric fuel pump and aux power ports and have them on/off with the ignition switch. Probably through a relay.

24V tap from ignition switch?

The carb solenoids are 24V Switched. As a signal to control a relay
that should be fine, but avoid putting any significant load on that
circuit. It already has too many IMHO.
Next up is the Switched power to the Coil, but that goes through
the RPM limiter, which is not a good idea and it could be a little
noisy due to the coil.
If your going to add an electric fuel pump, keep it out of the
engine compartment and as close to the tank and it's bottom as
possible. Ya, the spec's may claim siphoning height and temp is
fine but Heat and Suck are not a pumps best friend.
There's a cavity behind the Jerry can that is big enough to
squeeze a pump into.

Thank you. Looks like a lot of options out there.pinzinator wrote: Thu Mar 19, 2026 9:41 am Here is a list of available electric fuel pumps.

I'm a little worried about giving the fuel system too much pressure, causing carb issues.

Re: 24V tap from ignition switch?
I installed a Facet 24 volt fuel pump in June 0f 2015 along with a Holley fuel pressure regulator. The pressure was set at 3.5 PSI, which may be too high.
I made the electrical tap at the fuel solenoids, which is not recommended by most mechanics. The location of the pump is right where the mechanical pump used to be.
No problems in 11 years. It's nice to be able to turn on the key and hear the pump build up pressure before starting the engine, which reduces cranking time. Having PinzTronix helps, too.
If you have PinzTronix you could add this fuel pump to the voltage converter and replace the mechanical. Is 2 PSI enough? I don't know, perhaps some of you have an opinion.
Note- this pump has a check valve.

Re: 24V tap from ignition switch?
This may be a better choice for a fuel pump, and may work without a pressure regulator. Only the 12 volt version is available.
